The company was founded in 1999 by Giuseppe Albarelli and Andrea Pensiero, both come from commercially orientated backgrounds, Giuseppe studied economics and management and he also sold bags that he produced from the same material as the sails made in his family business. Andrea gained experience working as a designer for Fiorucci, Classic Nouveau and Wrangler as well as being an owner of a couple of small shops in Verona that sold vintage clothes and accessories.
The creation of a label that brought college style to Italy was by accident after a chance meeting and discovery of a common passion between the two for North American culture after exploring a second hand market in London. Here they came across an old 1970’s sweatshirt originating from the Franklin and Marshall College in Pennsylvania.
Choosing the brand name was particularly significant because Franklin & Marshall is the name of one of the oldest established colleges in the US which was founded in Pennsylvania in 1787. The pair decided that right from the start they were going to re launch American college style and become a cult name for those who look for icons and are inspired by the same values of liberty, respect for your fellow man and care of the environment around you. All of which is put into the clothing which includes t-shirts, polo shirts, hoodies and more.
